FAQ Text Version

Tell me about these clinics, you basketball genius!
Our head coach has developed a complete basketball curriculum. Everything from setting and taking every kind of screen, shooting and passing techniques, ball handling, team and individual defense and offense. Even sportsmanship. If it will make your son or daughter a better player we cover it. We call is basketball A to Z. Each week your player will attend a one hour clinic given by the academy head coach or girl's head coach. These clinics will closely follow the curriculum and in the end provide a total basketball education.

When are these clinics?
Cut me a little slack on this one. We are brand spanking new. The first clinics do not start until June 1. We are just beginning to get members signed up, so it will be a little while before we can establish a stable schedule. I think by the beginning of May we should have a pretty good idea about the number of groups we will be scheduling for. Then we will reserve the gym times and let everyone know what night and time they can count on as well as the location of their clinic.

Is this academy like a league?
LBA is no league. We plan on offering leagues and tournaments to our members. But the academy is all about increasing baskteball skill. Instead of worrying about running a particular offense or press break in order to win the next game our clinics concentrate on establishing fundamental and advanced skills. Learn to play basketball right!

Who is this Cougar guy?
Cougar would be Matthew cougar downing. He is our head coach. He is also the boys head coach at Bishop Seabury Academy. Back in the day Cougar was an all state basketball player who led atchison high school to two state championships. He played college ball at the University of Maryland. He is an experienced, professional coach with a fun side that the kids absolutely love. He gets the very best out of young players.

Now for the tough one. How much will this set me back?
Each player pays a $75 annual fee. That makes you a member. You also will have to pay the monthly fee. For the first family member the monthly fee is $65. Each additional family member joining the academy will only owe $45 a month. If you need some lazy time and take off for football or baseball season, or just want to take a summer vacation to Alaska, you can suspend your membership. When you are ready to get back into basketball form you can start up again. Just don't expect your basketball buddies to wait for you while they become all stars.
